Reaching for Excellence Speaker Series Hosts Forum on Childhood Emotional Health

The Reaching for Excellence initiative hosted the fifth event of its speaker series titled, “Kicked out of Kindergarten: Strengthening Emotional and Behavioral Health in Early Childhood” on April 2, 2009. Two keynote speakers presented a national perspective on the importance of early detection of emotional and behavioral problems in preschool age children, including gaps in current methods. The UB Regional Institute released a research brief on factors behind emotional, social and behavioral development challenges in the region and reviewed efforts to promote early intervention. More than 200 regional representatives in health care, education, human services and government attended the forum at WNED in Buffalo.
