Pathways to Progress for the Women and Girls of Western New York

Relative to just a few decades ago, the status of women and girls in Western New York has improved greatly. But the region has far to go to achieve parity. Greater appreciation of the full scope of experiences, obstacles and possibilities for the region’s women and girls is needed to strategically guide investment and policy action and forge stronger outcomes. Pathways to Progress is the first step to making meaningful and measurable differences in the status of women and girls in Western New York.

Pathways to Progress is an initiative of the WNY Women’s Fund, which has commissioned the UB Regional Institute to administer the project. The program will establish a baseline of understanding across the issues of economic security, education, wellness, safety and leadership. Efforts include data and policy analysis and the engagement of women and girls in a dialogue about supporting stronger pathways. Pathways to Progress, to be completed in fall 2009, will measure and monitor performance through indicators and outline an action plan for advancing women and girls in Western New York. Additional project support is being provided by the Community Health Foundation of Western & Central New York, the Joy Family Foundation, the Robert J. and Martha B. Fierle Foundation, The John R. Oishei Foundation and the Patrick P. Lee Foundation.
