Committed to its mission of measuring regional performance and progress toward indicator goals, the first State of the Region progress report was released in November 2000. 1999 Baseline Report
Released in 1999, the State of the Region project’s baseline report,
State of the Region: Performance Indicators for the Buffalo-Niagara Region
in the 21st Century, culminated a year-long effort by the University at Buffalo Regional Institute and more than 200 citizens and community
leaders. The first State of the Region report initiated this process of
monitoring and measuring performance and motivating action in areas central
