Rosaura Romero
Rosaura Romero Community Engagement Manager

Rosaura supports community engagement, outreach, and project management across multiple UBRI initiatives, with a focus on advancing equitable and community-driven development. She currently works at both the UB Regional Institute and the Center for Regional Strategies, where her efforts bridge university and community partnerships throughout Western New York.

At UBRI, Rosaura leads outreach, communications, and program coordination for Buffalo Street Trees, an initiative of the City of Buffalo Division of Parks and Recreation that engages residents around the benefits of urban trees and neighborhood greening. She also coordinates programming for East Side aspects of the Regional Revitalization Partnership (RRP), including ongoing support to graduates of the East Side Avenues Community-Based Real Estate Development Training (CBREDT) program and the East Side Building Fund.

Beyond these projects, Rosaura contributes more broadly to UBRI’s community engagement, outreach, and community development work — helping design inclusive engagement strategies, foster local partnerships, and support reporting and evaluation efforts across initiatives.

Prior to joining UBRI, Rosaura operated the Buffalo Research Registry and served as a Community Engagement Specialist with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at the University at Buffalo, developing culturally informed recruitment strategies and implementing community-based research initiatives. She also worked as a Research Data Coordinator for the Veggie Van Study at UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions, where she led data collection and partnership facilitation to assess the health impacts of mobile produce markets in underserved communities.

Rosaura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Health and Human Services (concentration in Community Mental Health) and a Master of Social Work from the University at Buffalo. She brings nearly a decade of experience in community building and is deeply committed to advancing social justice and equitable practices in systematically disenfranchised communities.
