Erin Hanaburgh
Erin joined UBRI in 2025 as an Associate Planner, bringing a background in communications, community engagement, and sustainability across higher education, workforce development, and business. Her work reflects a commitment to helping people and organizations access the knowledge and resources needed to take meaningful action.
In her role, Erin serves as the regional coordinator for the Climate Smart Communities and Clean Energy Communities programs, supporting municipalities across Erie and Niagara counties as they pursue initiatives that enhance climate resiliency, clean energy, and sustainability. She also supports UBRI’s communications, helping share the Institute’s impact and connect partners with the tools and insights that inform regional planning and development.
Prior to joining UBRI, Erin worked with the WNY Sustainable Business Roundtable, helping local businesses and organizations implement sustainable practices and serving as a partner on the WNY Clean Energy Hub. She also worked as a marketing strategist for an employment services company, collaborating with local employers on workforce strategies and talent recruitment. Earlier in her career, Erin held roles in enrollment management and marketing at D’Youville University, where she strengthened student recruitment through outreach and digital engagement strategies. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Business from D’Youville University, where she received the D’Youville Medal, the institution’s highest undergraduate honor. Erin is a Leadership Buffalo Rising Leader alum (Class of 2018) and currently serves on the Erie County Environmental Management Council.
Erin lives with her husband and two children on Buffalo’s West Side and is passionate about bringing people and organizations together across WNY to strengthen connections, foster belonging, and build a vibrant and resilient community.
