The UB Regional Institute is part of a collaborative effort to provide research and facilitative support for the 2010 Census as part of its Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) program. The institute was part of a similar initiative for the 2000 Census. Along with the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board and Empire State Development Corp., the institute was part of a statewide initiative to promote accurate counting.
